Mid-term review process

The European Astroparticle Physics Strategy 2017-2026 was adopted by the APPEC GA in 2016. Since then, there have been many developments both in the Astroparticle Physics research field and in the wider world. Hence, APPEC undertakes a mid-term update of the European Astroparticle Physics Strategy, with the aim to establish such an update in fall 2023.

The (European) Astroparticle Physics Community was closely involved in this update. A Town Meeting was held at 9 and 10 June 2022 in Berlin (https://indico.desy.de/event/25372/) at which occasion all relevant aspects of the strategy were discussed.

In November 2021 the APPEC Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) released a first draft version of the update document to receive feedback from the community concerning the accurateness and completeness of the document.

After implementation of the received comments and in preparation for the discussions at the APPEC Town Meeting the SAC has prepared an updated mid-term strategy review document to be serving as framework for the organisation of the Town Meeting and to serve as input for the discussions themselves.

This document was updated after the Town Meeting and served as input for the Mid-Term Update of the European Astroparticle Physics Strategy 2017-2026 which the APPEC SAC has prepared and the APPEC GA approved in summer 2023. The GA has released it as the European Astroparticle Physics Strategy 2022-2026 Mid-Term Update and presents it at a special event in Brussels on December, 7, 2023 (https://indico.cern.ch/event/1339060/)

The European Astroparticle Physics Strategy 2022-2026 Mid-Term Update will also serve as an input to the process to establish the new European Astroparticle Physics Strategy after 2026.
